The Norloch Ceilidh Band
The Norloch Ceilidh Band was formed in
the early 1990s. One of the new
generation of Scots dance bands to emerge
from the folk music scene of Edinburgh at
that time

Even people who've never danced before
have danced at Norloch Ceilidh Band gigs, but they do have a special 'dance
caller' to demonstrate the ceilidh dances
Norloch can provide a lively ceilidh with a dance
caller/fiddle player to call & demonstrate
ceilidh dances on the dance floor [a great
social mixer]plus a wide range of songs/styles
covering the 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s up to the
present day. The band has 2 Male
Singers in the line up and two fiddle players,
rhythm guitar and African 14" Dejembe drum
player with Hi-Hat (for full bass and treble
drum sound). Backing tracks/midi files
are used to provide a full band sound for
the pop and cover songs
Norloch's line up can vary from the normal four band
members, or down to a Trio (3 band members) line
up or even up to a specially extended 6 band
member line up depending upon your requirements.
Norloch provides all its own PA and equipment,
etc

Testimonials
"Thanks to the band for the entertainment
provided at our fundraising ceilidh at the
Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Friday 4th September
2009. With Mike's dance-calling
all dancers were able to perform even the
more complex ones with no major disasters
on the floor! Thanks to Phil for being so
adaptable with the various events we had,
and to all the band for making it a great
night"
Susan Allan

"This is just a letter to thank you
again for the wonderful input your band had
to my mother’s 80th birthday party
in July [2007]. All our relatives and
friends are still talking about the party
and the fantastic music you provided.
It was so good to have a mixture of ceilidh
and other styles, the band was certainly
very versatile.
We will certainly be in touch, next time,
we want to hire music for any other events
we plan.
Yours sincerely" Pat Chisholm,
Portobello,
Edinburgh

contribution to making our Wedding Day absolutely
perfect. I can’t begin to tell
you how many letters from family & friends

the castle for our golden wedding anniversary." Julie and Neil Begbie
